GETTING STARTED

Why Search Holidays by Date?

If you know when you can get away but not where to go, searching by departure date can be a simpler place to start.

Start with what you already know

Choosing a destination first makes sense if you have your heart set on a particular place. But not everyone plans a holiday that way. Sometimes the one thing you know is when you can travel: a week of annual leave, a school break or a few days free for a last-minute escape.

A date-first approach starts there. Rather than searching Spain, Greece, Portugal and other destinations separately, you look at package holidays listed for your available departure dates and discover where you could go.

What is different about searching by date?

Traditional holiday searches often ask you to narrow down where you want to go before showing offers. Date-first discovery lets you see different destinations together for a selected departure day. You can compare the possibilities before deciding which place appeals to you most.

It does not replace destination-led searching. It is another way to find a holiday, particularly when your dates are fixed and your destination is flexible.

Why can this make choosing a holiday easier?

Seeing holidays side by side in a consistent layout makes it easier to scan destinations, dates, accommodation, durations, travel providers and advertised starting prices. You spend less time switching between different website layouts just to understand what is on offer.

You may also notice a destination you would never have searched for by name. That is one of the advantages of browsing options before settling on a location.

How does TripsByDate use this approach?

TripsByDate brings together package holiday listings from different travel providers and displays them in a straightforward, date-led format. Using the website is deliberately simple:

  1. Select your departure airport. The website remembers your choice for future visits.
  2. Click a departure date. See the holidays currently listed for that day, or choose All Dates to browse more widely.
  3. Browse the holiday cards. Explore destinations, hotels and advertised prices in a consistent format, or use the map to look around.
  4. Open a deal. Visit the holiday provider to confirm current availability, what's included, the final price and the booking conditions.

Does searching by date guarantee a cheaper holiday?

No. Date-first searching is a way to discover and compare options, not a guarantee of lower prices. Being open to different destinations may give you more choices to consider, but the cheapest option depends on the actual offers available, what each package includes and the price confirmed by the provider.

Can I see every available package holiday?

Not yet. TripsByDate shows the holidays currently listed on the website. The long-term goal is to bring together listings from as many package holiday providers as possible, without making the experience harder to use. A date with few or no listings does not mean no holidays exist elsewhere.

Who benefits most from date-first holiday discovery?

It can be especially useful for travellers with fixed annual leave, families planning around school holidays, people choosing a quick getaway or anyone happy to explore several destinations. If you already know exactly where you want to go, a destination-focused search may still be more suitable.
