SIMPLER HOLIDAY SEARCHING
Why Is Comparing Package Holiday Prices Across Destinations Difficult?
A £499 holiday in Spain and a £549 holiday in Greece might look easy to compare. But are they leaving on the same date, for the same number of nights, with the same things included? That's where holiday searching gets messy. TripsByDate makes the first part much simpler.
The problem isn't just finding a price. It's comparing like with like.
Package holidays bundle different parts of a trip together. Flights, accommodation, dates, airports, baggage, transfers, board basis and room choices can all affect what you pay. Two attractive headline prices might describe very different holidays.
And if you're open to several destinations, the search itself adds another layer of work. You might check Spain, then Greece, then Turkey, repeatedly entering dates and airports before you can even begin to see your options side by side.
Why are holiday prices so awkward to compare?
There are a few common reasons:
- Different departure dates. A price advertised for Tuesday isn't directly comparable with a holiday leaving on Friday.
- Different lengths of stay. Five nights and seven nights may have very different total prices and value.
- Different airports and flight times. A cheaper package may require a less convenient departure or arrival.
- Different board and hotel options. Self-catering, bed and breakfast, half board and all-inclusive are not interchangeable.
- Different inclusions. Baggage, transfers and other extras may be included in one package but cost more in another.
- Different price displays. Always check whether a figure is per person or the total cost for everyone travelling.
These details matter. A lower headline price does not automatically mean a better-value holiday.
Why does comparing different countries make it harder?
When you already know the resort and hotel you want, you can concentrate on finding an acceptable price. But if your question is “Where could we go for a week in November?”, you're dealing with many possible destinations, each with different hotels and packages.
Traditional destination-led search flows can turn that into a long process of reopening forms, changing countries and keeping track of prices across browser tabs. It's a lot of effort just to get an overview of what's available.
TripsByDate starts with the things you already know
We think the first look at your holiday options should take seconds, not a session of form-filling. That's why TripsByDate uses a different starting point: your departure airport and your dates.
Choose your airport once, TripsByDate remembers it for future visits. Then click through the departure dates and browse the package holidays listed for each day. Destinations from different providers are shown in a consistent, easy-to-scan format, rather than requiring a separate search for every country.

What should I compare when browsing package holidays?
Start by narrowing the options to holidays leaving from a suitable airport on dates that actually work for you. Then compare the important details:
- Advertised price: check the price basis and who it covers.
- Duration: compare the number of nights, not just the headline figure.
- Hotel and location: consider the resort, facilities and location.
- Board basis: check whether meals and drinks are included.
- Travel arrangements: consider flight times, baggage and transfers.
- Final supplier price: verify availability, inclusions and total cost before booking.
TripsByDate helps you discover and shortlist options quickly. It does not claim that every package has identical inclusions or that the displayed listings alone establish which holiday is cheapest overall. The provider's booking information is the place to confirm the final details.
Does the cheapest package always offer the best value?
Not necessarily. A slightly more expensive holiday could include airport transfers, luggage or meals that you would otherwise need to pay for. Or it could have flight times that suit you better. Equally, a basic package might be exactly what you want if you prefer to keep costs down and arrange extras yourself.
The useful question isn't simply “Which price is lowest?”It's “What am I getting for that price, on dates I can actually travel?”
A simpler first step, with a bigger ambition
TripsByDate is building a new way to discover package holidays: fast browsing, a clean listing format and less of the repetitive searching that can make holiday planning frustrating.
Our long-term goal is to bring together holiday listings from as many providers as possible in one easy-to-use place. We're not claiming to list every provider or every available holiday today. But the approach is simple: make finding the possibilities effortless, then let travellers choose what suits them.
